phpFunctions

Update: Source Released

Yesterday I put together this AJAX (actually AJAH) tool that allows you to quickly view the important details (argument list especially) of PHP functions.

You just type in the beginning of the function you want and you are presented with a list, click one on the list and the details are filled in.

See if you find it useful, post feedback in the comments.

Freedom of ze press

American troops seized Ali Fadhil, a journalist working on a film potentially damaging to Britain and the US. The Guardian reports they fired bullets and seized tapes.

From Guardian Unlimited | Special reports | US troops seize award-winning Iraqi journalist:

Dr Fadhil is working with Guardian Films on an investigation for Channel 4’s Dispatches programme into claims that tens of millions of dollars worth of Iraqi funds held by the Americans and British have been misused or misappropriated.

The troops told Dr Fadhil that they were looking for an Iraqi insurgent and seized video tapes he had shot for the programme. These have not yet been returned.

Two great uses of ‘tree’

The less goggy amongst you may not be familiar with the tree command.

It’s rather fun! It lists all the files in the current directory, in an ASCII tree..

But I can also think of two uses:

  1. For showing off your extr3me technability: “Start>Run>cmd” “cd\” “tree”. Seriously, it impresses people, try running it for a bit if someone is paying you to fix their box. If they ask what you’re doing just techno-babble!
  2. For emailing a list of files:
  3. if you want to tell your friend what you have in, for instance, your My Music folder, just tree it and copy and paste. Its plain text and completely searchable, altogether uber.
